Overview
Becoming is a private journaling app. Your reflections are yours. We built this app because we believe the act of self-reflection should happen in a space that is safe, honest, and free from surveillance. This policy explains clearly what data we collect, why, and what we do with it.
What we collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive only what Apple shares with us — typically an anonymized email address.
Journal entries: Your written and voice journal entries are stored on our servers. Entry content is encrypted at rest. Voice recordings are transcribed and then immediately deleted from our servers — we do not retain audio files.
Reflections and metadata: AI-generated reflections, themes, and patterns derived from your entries are stored in plaintext to power your weekly and seasonal reports.
Usage data: We collect basic usage information such as entry dates and counts to generate your streak and report features. We also collect data on overall app engagement and clicks on notifications.
How we use your data
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not train AI models on your journal entries.
